Mark 13:34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

INTRO:
Daniel in Babylon:
He recognizes in the books of the law that the number of years had been completed of the 70 years of desolations of Jerusalem, therefore he sought the LORD by prayer, supplications, fasting, sackcloth, and ashes!
Daniel 9:1 ¶In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;
2 In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.
3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
4 ¶And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
It is in Daniel chapter 9 we find his prayer, it was because of the desolations of Jerusalem and seeking the Lord to see the promise given to Jeremiah that this judgment would only be 70 years be fulfilled and honored by the Lord, which the Lord did!
It is also in this chapter we find Daniel’s 70 weeks:
Gabriel came to Daniel: We won’t go into detail in this, but here is the prophecy!
Daniel 9:21 Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.
22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.
23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.

The time frame of the seventy weeks or “seventy sevens of years” is associated with Daniels people, the Jews, and the holy city, Jerusalem. The fact that the weks of years (490 years) are 360 day years is established by a comparison of 7:25 with Rev 11:2,3; 12:6,14; and 13:5
____________________________________________________________________________
The weeks of years began with the commandment by Artaxercex in 445 bc to restore Jerusalem:
Seven sevens:
49 years- 445 to 396 bc; from Artaxerxes decree to the arrival of Nehemiah and the covenant renewal celebration at Jerusalem.
Sixty two sevens:
434 years-396 bc to 32 ad, from the dedication of the second temple to the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ
One seven:
7 years, unfulfilled, one who makes desolate, a reference in type to Antichus Epiphanes, and 2 thess 2 and Mtt 24:15
Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:
2 Thessalonians 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
_______________________________________________________________________________
24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

the Spirit of God
the scribe, Ezra: A “scribe of the law of God of Heaven” Ezra 7:11, from Artaxerxes to Ezra.
The kings of Persia: Cyrus to Darius, with many in between
The prophet, Haggai: ‘name means festive’
The prophet, Zechariah: ‘Yahweh Remembers’
The Governor, Zerubbabel: Civil authority, Governor
The High priest, Joshua: religious authority, high priest
Nehemiah, Yahweh comforts, governor
Daniel, ‘god is my judge’ deported as a teenager to Babylon in 605 bc, the prophet refered to by Jesus in Matthew 24:15
——————————————————————————————
Some of the richest Old testament works of the prophets came during the time of the return of the exiles. Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel all prophesied and warning both Northern Israel and Judah to repent.
With the return, came hope!
God moves on King Cyrus of Babylon to issue an edict to start rebuilding the temple. A faithful group left for Jerusalem in 538 BC under Zerubbabel.
Ezra 60 years later, 458 bc, leads anther group of exiles sent by then reigning King Artaxerxes of Persia, with additional money and valuables to complete temple worship. Exra then is task to instruct the people in the ways of the LORD.
Nehemiah then comes to Jerusalem nearly 13 years later to rebuild the walls. It was during this time that the land had seen the people who were forcibly resettled in the land had worshipped many Gods which also affected Gods chosen people who had comprised with the evil. It was Nehemiah who challenged the people to show their faith by their works. Nehemiah working with Ezra the priest, Nehemiah the governor and Ezra the priest restored what God had intended.

Zechariah’s vision:
The LORD returns to Jerusalem with mercy after exile of Judah and Jerusalem.
Zechariah 1:12
Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?
Zechariah 1:13
And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words.
Zechariah 1:14
So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.
Zechariah 1:15
And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.
Zechariah 1:16
Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.
Zechariah 1:17
Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
The Almighty God, the LORD Stirred the Spirit of Cyrus king of Persia to build the temple again at Jerusalem. The ‘heart’ of the King is in the hand of the LORD! Supernaturally moving in the natural world for his Good pleasure!.
Ezra 1:1
¶Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,
Ezra 1:2
Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.
Ezra 1:3
Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.
Ezra 1:4
And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.
The Work Begins: This was of the LORD and could not be ignored, what God tells you to do, that you must!
Ezra 3:8
¶Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the LORD.
The Adversaries: Whenever you begin a project for the LORD God, adversaries and enemies come out to oppose you!
Ezra 4:1
¶Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel;
Ezra 4:2
Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.
The Jews knew and did not accept their plea’s to help. It does not say that they knew the reasons for these to come help, just that they followed the Orders given by King Cyrus of Persia to do so!
Ezra 4:3
But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.
The Adversaries Plot and move to trouble the Jews in their quest! The enemy does not give up, here we find them moving to trouble those doing the LORD’S work. They even hired counsellors against them to take their case legally to the King. This lasted from all the days of Cyrus king of Persia to the reign of Darius King of Persia.
The enemy is persistent,
here is an example!
Ezra 4:4
Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,
Ezra 4:5
And hired counselors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.
The Counselors send legal letters to the King Ahasuerus, his hebrew name, greek name Xerxes against the Jews building in Jerusalem. Ezra 4:6-7
They also wrote legal letters to King Artaxerxes of Persia, here it names the adversaries: Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabel, and the rest of their companions. Rehum the commander and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem. Ezra 4:8
The letter is found in Ezra 4:9-24. Here is a portion:
Ezra 4:11
This is the copy of the letter that they sent unto him, even unto Artaxerxes the king; Thy servants the men on this side the river, and at such a time.
Ezra 4:12
Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls thereof, and joined the foundations.
Ezra 4:13
Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings.
Ezra 4:14
Now because we have maintenance from the king’s palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king’s dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king;
Ezra 4:15
That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed.
Ezra 4:16
We certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river.
The result was, construction was stopped:
Ezra 4:23 Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes’ letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.
24 Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.
God intervenes in the Affairs of Men for His purpose:
The Lord sends the prophets Haggai and Zechariah to the Jews in Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel!
Ezra 5:1 ¶Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them.
Here is Haggai’s Prophecy and Warning from the LORD concerning his command to rebuild the temple.
Although adversaries had plotted and succeeded in stopping the work, God did not stop it.
Thus, the people, though having stopped building decided instead to build their own houses and do their own work.
Here we find the LORD sending judgments upon his own people who did not finish the work, even though, they were told by men to stop building. Haggai tells them to start again and build what God had told them to do.
Haggai 1:1
¶In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,
Haggai 1:2
Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD’S house should be built.
Haggai 1:3
Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,
Haggai 1:4
Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your ceiled houses, and this house lie waste?
Haggai 1:5
Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
Haggai 1:6
Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
Haggai 1:7
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
Haggai 1:8
Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.
Haggai 1:9
Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.
Haggai 1:10
Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.
Haggai 1:11
And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.

The result was that construction began again! As both Ezra and Haggai notes!
Ezra 5:2 Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them.
Haggai 1:12
¶Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.
Haggai 1:13
Then spake Haggai the LORD’S messenger in the LORD’S message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.
Haggai 1:14
And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,
With Construction moving forward again, the enemies of God and the Jews started back up to stop the construction. But note here, “the eye of their God” was upon the elders of the jews.
The Letter can be found and a response in Chapters 5 and 6 of Ezra!
Ezra 5:3
¶At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shetharboznai, and their companions, and said thus unto them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall?
Ezra 5:4
Then said we unto them after this manner, What are the names of the men that make this building?
Ezra 5:5
But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this matter.
Darius finds the record of order to build again the temple. Along with this decree was a curse upon anyone that hindered in this process, the curse being, hanged, and his house made a dunghill for ‘altering a word’ of the Kings edict.
Ezra 6:9
And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and rams, and lambs, for the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the appointment of the priests which are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail:
Ezra 6:10
That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.
Ezra 6:11
Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.
Ezra 6:12
And the God that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.
Ezra 6:13
¶Then Tatnai, governor on this side the river, Shetharboznai, and their companions, according to that which Darius the king had sent, so they did speedily.
Ezra 6:14
And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.
Ezra 6:15
And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.
Ezra the scribe and priest, moves forward with God’s plan to bring the people into direct line with God’s word, doing as it says.
Ezra forshadows Christ as the ‘High Priest’
Ezra 7:11 ¶Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the scribe, even a scribe of the words of the commandments of the LORD, and of his statutes to Israel.
Hebrews 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Haggai, prophecy of the ‘latter house’
its glory shall exceed the former and its glory greater!
Haggai: name means ‘festive’, Pastoral heart, contemporary of Zechariah,
The Glory of the latter house, greater than the former! Shaking of all nations, the shaking of the heavens, earth, sea, and dry land!
A time of upheaval, trouble, shaking of all nations, there shall arise the glory of the latter house, note here the Spirit of the Lord is mentioned here, it remains among you, ‘fear ye not’. This a fulfillment to the Jews at the time of the covenant he made with them coming out of Egypt.
So today, through our Lord Jesus Christ, fulfilling the ‘messianic’ role, ‘priestly role’, and the role of the ‘lamb’, slain, brings us into the new temple, purchased under the ‘blood of the covenant’ and this temple will be much more glorious than Solomons temple.
This fulfiment will be when the Lord comes back, but until then, we have his Spirit with us, so do not fear!
Haggai 2:5 According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.
Haggai 2:6
For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;
Haggai 2:7
And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.
Haggai 2:8
The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.
Haggai 2:9
The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.
Zerubbabel: a man chosen by God and was a yielded vessel, it was what he did in part and points to what Jesus did in full through his ministry. Zerubbabel is in the line of the Messiah, he is in the lists of Jesus geneology in Matthew and Luke.
Haggai 2:21
Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;
Haggai 2:22
And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.
Haggai 2:23
In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.
This fulfiment will be when the Lord comes back, but until then, we have his Spirit with us, so do not fear!
The Messianic Picture found in Zechariah! All of this given to Zechariah, a prophet who was instrumental with Haggai in the rebuilding of the post exile temple. This was a move of God to fulfill his covenant with them when they came out of Egypt and also points to a new covenant and time. The time of the Messiah.
The Messiah comes as ‘my Servant the BRANCH’
This was spoken to Joshua the High priest, his role as a ‘high priest’ looks forward to our roles today before God, who having been cleansed are now Kings and Priest to our God!
Zechariah 3:8 ¶Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.
This was “By my Spirit” Saith the LORD of HOSTS
This also points to today, when the Holy Spirit has come. It is truly “not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit saith the Lord of Hosts!
Note here! Do not despise the day of small things! i.e., when God begins a work, it starts somewhere, that is in the beginning. Just as this post exile house was not even comparable to the glory before, don’t despise the building of this one. Our lesson today, do not despise the work of the Lord your doing, no matter how small it seems compared to the largest of ministries today!
Zechariah 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.
8 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.
10 For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.
The Messiah comes as the Man the BRANCH!
Zechariah 6:12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
The Messiah shall be both King and Priest!
Zechariah 6:13 Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both
The True Shepherd, the worthless Shepherds, and the people who follow!
One will feed, the others lead astray; the One will heal and deliver, loving the LORD, the others will loathe the LORD! Thus the Worthless shepherd, verse 17.
The Triumphal Entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem prophesied
and fulfilled in Mtt 21:15
Zechariah 9:9 ¶Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
Matthew 21:15 And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,
The LORD, the Messiah, is found as the True Shepherd
and one whom the people rejected, even being weighed of silver as prophesied, verse 12!
Zechariah 11:4 ¶Thus saith the LORD my God; Feed the flock of the slaughter;
5 Whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty: and they that sell them say, Blessed be the LORD; for I am rich: and their own shepherds pity them not.
6 For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD: but, lo, I will deliver the men every one into his neighbour’s hand, and into the hand of his king: and they shall smite the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them.
7 And I will feed the flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of the flock. And I took unto me two staves; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock.
8 Three shepherds also I cut off in one month; and my soul lothed them, and their soul also abhorred me.
9 Then said I, I will not feed you: that that dieth, let it die; and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat every one the flesh of another.
10 And I took my staff, even Beauty, and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the people.
11 And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the LORD.
Jesus Christ’s Betrayal for Thirty pieces of silver;
Mtt 27:3-9, prophesied and fulfilled!
Zechariah 11:12 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.
13 And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD.
14 Then I cut asunder mine other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.
15 ¶And the LORD said unto me, Take unto thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd.
16 For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces.
17 Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.
Jesus Christ, his Crucifixion prophesied and fulfilled!
Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
John 19:37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
Jerusalem and the People: The refining fire, bringing people to repentance!
Zechariah 13:8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.
Jesus Christ, “smite the shepherd, sheep will scatter”, prophesied, occurred, and quoted by Jesus in Matthew!
Zechariah 13:7 ¶Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.
Matthew 26:31 ¶Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night:
for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
Prophecies, The Second Advent of Jesus Christ:
Zechariah 14:1
¶Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
Zechariah 14:2
For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
Zechariah 14:3
Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
Zechariah 14:4
And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
Zechariah 14:5
And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.
Zechariah 14:6
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark:
Zechariah 14:7
But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.
Zechariah 14:8
¶And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.
Zechariah 14:9
And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.
Zechariah 14:10
All the land shall be turned as a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin’s gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king’s winepresses.
Zechariah 14:11
And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited.
Zechariah 14:12
And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
Zechariah 14:13
And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.
Zechariah 14:14
And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance.
Zechariah 14:15
And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that shall be in these tents, as this plague.
Zechariah 14:16
¶And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
