Wf-121909-Everlasting Joy shall be upon their Heads
“Joy begins here, redeemed, ransomed, and knowing that one day, as those who have been redeemed, ransomed, and delivered by our God through his Son Jesus Christ, we will walk, singing, as the ‘ransomed of the LORD, into Zion with songs, having everlasting joy upon our heads, like a crown. All sorrow and sighing shall flee away in a moment. ”
Pause, think, about that for a moment, Selah!
Therefore, Be ye Ready and

Are you tonight?
Ransomed: obtain the release of (someone) by paying a ransom.
Redeemed: a person who redeems someone or something.
Galatians 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Matthew 20:28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
All the shame, and all the confusion of the former life will be done away with! We shall return to our God, from whence we came! We shall return to the gates of Zion, having been in this life, redeemed and ransomed from the ‘curse of the law’ and the ‘death’ associated with it. We who had the Son of God give his life for ours, as a ransom unto God, a purchased possession, now we are the LORD’S.
We are the purchases possession, through Christ!
Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory
We are bought with a price!
1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Corinthians 7:23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
Now when we come to Zion we will have Joy upon our heads as a crown, but today, we have the Spirit of God, and one fruit of the Spirit is ‘JOY’.

H3>JOY: The Return of the Remnant to Jerusalem-Nehemiah
~~~~~~~~
-A supernatural fruit of the spirit of God
-It is both inner and can be displayed in outward emotions
-It is a treasure
-It is a blessing
-Don’t confuse this with mere human emotion triggered by things of this world [those things you see, feel, touch, like new cars, houses, raise in pay, new friends, ect]
-You can have joy as you go through trials
-You can have joy as you meet suffering
-You can have joy always
-It is a Fruit, produced by the Spirit of God, and enabled by our Faith and Trust in God!
The Joy of the LORD [YHWH] is your Strength:
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Joy:
“2304 [chedvah /khed·vaw/] n f. From 2302; TWOT 607a; GK 2530; Two occurrences; AV translates as “gladness” once, and “joy” once. 1 joy, gladness.”
Here in Nehemiah, the remnant of Israel who returned to Jerusalem celebrating ‘Feast of Tabernacles’! They had re-instituted ‘booths’ or ‘feast of tabernacles’ see verse 14! The people who had sinned against the LORD, now stood once again in Jerusalem after some 70 years in captivity in Babylon. The judgment was over and the Lord brought them back. Through the ministries of Ezra the scribe, Nehemiah the governor, Joshua the high priest, Haggai and Zechariah the prophets, God had finished the work. The temple rebuilt, the people back, all now wept at the hearing of the Law, their hearts sorrowful over the past sins and rebellion of their people.
But it as was a new time, they were brought back to the Lord God. Now the ‘solemn feast’ of Tabernacles was to be celebrating the joy and gladness of the time. It was a time for feasting, happiness, joy, and knowing the re-uniting of the people with their God.
It is a picture of the past deliverance of the children of Israel out of Egypt and their living in Booths in the wilderness for forty years as the Lord provided for them.
It is also a picture of the ‘kingdom of Christ’ set up on this earth. It will be a time as the verses we started with, ‘the redeemed of the Lord shall return’, just as these remnant returned to Jerusalem from bondage, so too will we and all who are redeemed through the Lamb. We shall return to Zion with everlasting joy on our heads. So important is this feast, we will celebrate it in the millenium.
Zechariah 14:16 ¶And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
20 In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD; and the pots in the LORD’S house shall be like the bowls before the altar.
21 Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the LORD of hosts: and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein: and in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts.
Nehemiah 8:10
Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
Nehemiah 8:1
¶And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
Nehemiah 8:2
And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.
Nehemiah 8:3
And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law.
Nehemiah 8:4
And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
Nehemiah 8:5
And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:
Nehemiah 8:6
And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
Nehemiah 8:7
Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.
Nehemiah 8:8
So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
Nehemiah 8:9
¶And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
Nehemiah 8:10
Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
Nehemiah 8:11
So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye grieved.
JOY: The Loss of the ‘Son of Man’ and ‘His Return’
~~~~~~~~
‘The World shall rejoice, ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned to joy’
Joy: “5479 [chara /khar·ah/] n f. From 5463; TDNT 9:359; TDNTA 1298; GK 5915; 59 occurrences; AV translates as “joy” 51 times, “gladness” three times, “joyful” once, “joyous” once, “joyfulness” once, “joyfully + 3326” once, and “greatly” once. 1 joy, gladness. 1a the joy received from you. 1b the cause or occasion of joy. 1b1 of persons who are one’s joy.”
This word Joy, is also from another root word 5463, meaning to rejoice, be glad, to rejoice exceedingly.
The disciples did not fully understand what was coming. The shepherd would be struck, the sheep would scatter. The world would be happy, the religious world would be happy, the romans would be happy since they pleased the jews. In all, people died on the cross in Rome a lot, this was nothing to issue punishment, that is, until they would fully understand the whole prophetic scheme in the next life.
The sheep, the disciples and followers of Christ would be sorrowful, in fact, a wreck. Not knowing what to do, they would of been lost. Their leader gone, all his teachings, his life, now beginning to fade away. They comes the reports of Mary and others they had seen Jesus. This was probably only a spirit, or something imagined in their mind.
John 16:20
Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
John 16:21
A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

¶And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
John 16:24
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
John 16:25
These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.

John 16:29
His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.
Luke 24:36
¶And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
But, in fact, Jesus did return, and with him physically returning, Joy returned. Jesus Appeared to them just as the two from the road to Emmaus described how they had seen Jesus.
A mixture of fear, unbelief, and joy all hit the disciples as they tried to understand in their minds how can someone raise from the dead. This was no spirit, but it was plainly Jesus ‘YSHUA’ who had flesh and bones along with the scars from the crucifixion!
The Lord asked for food and ate it before them, proving he was able to eat and digest, a spirit could not do this. He then opened their understanding and told them how ‘Christ’ must needs have suffered and fulfilled the scripture and then he gave the great commission.
Luke 24:37
But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
Luke 24:38
And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
Luke 24:39
Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
Luke 24:40
And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.
Luke 24:41
And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?
Luke 24:42
And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
Luke 24:43
And he took it, and did eat before them.
Luke 24:44
And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
Luke 24:45
Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
Luke 24:46
And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
Luke 24:47
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
That your Joy might be full!~
Jesus spoke of Joy, and wanted his disciples to have ‘their joy full’. But this joy, must be ‘the Lord’s joy and it must remain’. In this section, ‘the Lord’s Joy is in context with being loved of Jesus, whom the Father love. We are told to continue in His love.
To continue in His love, Jesus says, ‘keep my commandments’, then you shall abide in my love, just as I have kept my Fathers commandments and abide in his love. He also said why he told them these things, that was ‘that my joy might remain in you, and your joy might be full. When we are obedient to the Lord and do as he says, his joy is in us and our joy can be full. Why? Because we are in obedience and not disobedience. The Lord also said to ‘love one another’, as “I have loved you”.
Jesus ends this section saying, “you are my friends if you do whatsoever I command you”.
John 15:9
¶As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
John 15:10
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
John 15:11
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
John 15:12
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:14
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
“They they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves”
Here the Lord is praying to the Father and he has said he was with those the Father gave him in the world and had lost none, except the son of perdition according to scripture. He did not lose them keeping them in the Fathers name. The word of the Father he gave to them, thus, he now mentions again here that ‘these things I speak in the world’, he did so ‘that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.’ This brings the phrase back to John 15. He had given them the Word, kept them in the Fathers name, had lost none of them. The world would hate them, because they love the Son and the Father, keeping the commandments, and faith of Jesus. Their testimony would eventually circle the globe. They were not of the world, but they would be kept in the world, but be kept from evil. They would be ‘sanctified by the Fathers Word’, because the
‘Fathers Word is truth.’ In keeping the Word of God, in obedience, through love, we are sanctified by this Word and through obedience, Joy will come.
John 17:12
While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
John 17:13
And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
John 17:14
I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
John 17:15
I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
John 17:16
They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
John 17:17
¶Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

JOY: The current remnant believers’
~~~~~~~~
Although Christ is in heaven, we wait for his return. We by faith believe and walk in obedience willingly out of love for him.
We wait, by faith and patience, enduring trials, and can have his joy in us.
When he returns, we will have the scriptures fulfilled that say ‘everlasting joy upon their heads’.
Here though, we have many other scriptures on Joy!
Joy in Acts:
Peter quotes David in his preaching on Pentecost:
Acts 2:28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
Acts 8:8 And there was great joy in that city.
Acts 13:52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
Acts 15:3 And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.
Paul ‘finish my course with joy’:
Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
The Supernatural Joy of God:
Romans 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Romans 15:13 ¶Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Romans 15:32 That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.
Joy in and among the believers: Ministry of Joy!
2 Corinthians 1:24 Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.
2 Corinthians 2:3 And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.
2 Corinthians 7:13 Therefore we were comforted in your comfort: yea, and exceedingly the more joyed we for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.
2 Corinthians 8:2 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
Ministry of Joy to the believers cont’d: A vital part of our life in Christ!
Philippians 1:4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
Philippians 1:25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;
Philippians 2:2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
Philippians 2:17 Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.
Philippians 2:18 For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.
Philippians 4:1 ¶Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.
The Joy of the Holy Ghost, ministry to others, seeing them advance in faith, fruits, and love towards our God! This is the true ministry of Joy, for we Joy when one sinner repents!
1 Thessalonians 1:6 ¶And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
1 Thessalonians 2:19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
1 Thessalonians 2:20 For ye are our glory and joy.
1 Thessalonians 3:9 For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;
Seeing the Brethren in the Lord, brings a refreshment of Joy. When we gather, we should be refreshed, and joy in one another in the Lord. This is again, the ministry of Joy!
2 Timothy 1:4 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;
Philemon 1:7 For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.
Philemon 1:20 Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.
Joy See’s the Example of our Lord, who for Joy set before him endured the cross!
Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Joy in temptations my brethren!
James 1:2 ¶My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
1 Peter 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
1 Peter 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
Joy is walking in Gods truth, and knowing our God is able to keep us from falling so we may be presented unto him before his throne!
1 John 1:4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
2 John 1:12 ¶Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
3 John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
