Israel is now beginning to appear in all its fruit. Jacob is on his deathbed. The blessings of Jacob on his sons will be at this time. In this segment we also find Joseph continuing for a while, but even he dies. This is the real beginning of Israel and the place where the young nation is formed. It is here where we find Joseph’s sons being blessed and called Jacobs sons as well. They are part of the blessing and the covenant God made with Jacobs fathers.
Israel now finds that in Joseph, both Manasseh and Ephraim are blessed and part of it as well. But here we find that Ephraim and the blessing to the nations are here. It is through Joseph and his marriage to a true gentile, the daughter of a high pagan priest of Egypt brings in the first glimpse of the Gentile line to this nation. But the real purpose and blessing to the nations which were promised to Abraham, “that in thee shall all nations of the earth be blessed” will find fulfillment through Ephraim. There is much to learn here that applies to us today! Listen to both parts as we continue the exciting story of the house of Israel.

Gen 48:15 And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my father’s Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,
16 The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my father’s Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.
